San Diego Comic-Con took place over the weekend, and as per usual it was full of tidbits of news across film, TV, and gaming. Amazon first revealed that it was working on a series set in the Blade Runner universe in 2022, but it took a few years before we got a glimpse at it. 2099 is set 50 years after the last film and stars Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer as a blade runner and replicant who are forced to work together. Mike Flanagan had a solid run at Netflix through series like The Haunting of Hill House and The Fall of the House of Usher, but Amazon poached him a few years back for its own streaming service. He’s starting out with a series based on Stephen King’s classic Carrie.
