Walmart is finally adding Apple Pay and Google Pay

Tap-to-pay is coming to Walmart and Sam’s Club locations starting August 24th. 从 8 月 24 日起，沃尔玛（Walmart）和山姆会员店（Sam’s Club）将开始支持“触碰支付”（Tap-to-pay）。

Walmart will soon allow you to pay for your items with Google Pay or Apple Pay. In an announcement on Friday, Walmart says it’s going to bring tap-to-pay capabilities to “select” Walmart and Sam’s Club locations starting August 24th, before rolling out support to all US stores by the end of 2026 and gas stations by mid-2027. 沃尔玛很快将允许用户使用 Google Pay 或 Apple Pay 进行结账。在周五的一份公告中，沃尔玛表示，从 8 月 24 日起，将率先在“部分”沃尔玛和山姆会员店门店引入触碰支付功能，随后在 2026 年底前推广至全美所有门店，并于 2027 年中期覆盖至加油站。

This launch has been a long time coming, as Walmart was one of the last major retailers not to support Apple Pay or Google Pay. The retail giant even backed the launch of the short-lived CurrentC mobile payment service before rolling out Walmart Pay in 2016, which lets you quickly check out with a QR code at its stores. A Walmart spokesperson doubled down on its decision not to support NFC-based payments in a statement to MacRumors last year, saying the company offers “convenient solutions” like Walmart Pay instead.
