Abstract: There has been some interest recently in determining the longest distance one can sail for on the earth without hitting land, as well as in the converse problem of determining the longest distance one could drive for on the earth without encountering a major body of water. 摘要: 近期,人们对于确定地球上在不触及陆地的情况下所能航行的最长距离产生了一些兴趣;同样,人们也对反向问题感兴趣,即确定在地球上不遇到大型水域的情况下所能行驶的最长距离。
In its basic form, this is an optimisation problem, rendered chaotic by the presence of islands and lakes, and indeed the fractal nature of the coasts. 从基本形式来看,这是一个优化问题,但由于岛屿和湖泊的存在,以及海岸线本身的分形特性,使得该问题变得极其复杂。
