Xteink X4 Pro 评测

I just bought an Xteink X4 Pro e-reader that snaps onto the back of my phone using MagSafe. 我刚买了一台 Xteink X4 Pro 电子阅读器，它可以通过 MagSafe 磁吸在手机背面。

I’ve been trying to do more reading as of late, and I hoped that having a dedicated reading device would aid me in that venture. Well, I’m very glad to say that it has! Here are some thoughts about the device. 最近我一直在尝试多读书，我希望拥有一台专门的阅读设备能助我一臂之力。很高兴地说，它确实做到了！以下是我对这款设备的一些看法。

The touchscreen is responsive, with smooth scrolling support via swiping. 触摸屏反应灵敏，支持通过滑动进行流畅的滚动操作。

Battery life is indefatigable: the advantage of E Ink displays is that they only sip power when actively updating the page. 电池续航能力极强：电子墨水屏的优势在于只有在刷新页面时才会消耗电量。

The refresh rate is by no means instantaneous, but it’s fast enough that it’s not bothersome. 刷新率虽然算不上瞬时响应，但速度足够快，不会让人感到困扰。

The page turning buttons are accessible and easy to navigate with one hand. 翻页键位置合理，单手操作非常方便。

On-screen typography suffers a bit due to the lower screen resolution, but I didn’t experience any eye strain. I like to read on the smallest font size, and I still found it legible. 由于屏幕分辨率较低，屏幕上的字体显示稍显逊色，但我并没有感到眼睛疲劳。我喜欢用最小字号阅读，依然觉得清晰可读。

The X4 Pro comes equipped with a replaceable microSD card. I think it’d be pretty hard to fill up all the storage with books! X4 Pro 配备了可更换的 microSD 卡。我想要把所有存储空间都装满书应该挺难的！

It’s extremely lightweight, so you can hold it for hours on end without tiring. 它非常轻便，你可以连续握持数小时而不感到疲劳。

The lack of USB-C is my only gripe. It comes equipped with a (finicky) USB-C to pogo-pin adapter that provides both power and data transfer. It does the job, but it’s by no means ergonomic. And with all my other devices on USB-C now, it’s frustrating to have to keep around an adapter. 唯一让我不满的是它没有 USB-C 接口。它配备了一个（比较难用的）USB-C 转 Pogo-pin 适配器，用于供电和数据传输。虽然能用，但完全谈不上符合人体工程学。而且现在我所有的其他设备都用 USB-C 了，还得专门留个适配器实在让人心烦。

Firmware

The stock OS is … not great. But, thankfully, the device is unlocked and can be easily flashed using the browser via the Web Serial API. I’m using the superb CrossPoint firmware, and there’s a wonderful ecosystem of forks and plugins that have sprouted around it. 原厂系统……不太行。但好在设备是解锁的，可以通过浏览器利用 Web Serial API 轻松刷机。我目前使用的是非常棒的 CrossPoint 固件，围绕它已经形成了一个很棒的分支和插件生态系统。

The device runs on an ESP32, which is a wonderfully low-cost microcontroller. It’s pretty incredible that the firmware runs on just a few hundred kilobytes of RAM. I love these examples of constrained computing devices! 该设备搭载 ESP32，这是一款性价比极高的微控制器。固件仅在几百 KB 的内存上就能运行，这简直不可思议。我非常喜欢这类受限计算设备！

Since the ESP32 has WiFi support, there’s a plethora of ways to transfer books: USB-C, local network, WiFi hotspot, and Calibre plugin. There’s even a way to connect it to Libby to borrow DRM-protected books from your library. 由于 ESP32 支持 WiFi，传输书籍的方式多种多样：USB-C、局域网、WiFi 热点以及 Calibre 插件。甚至还可以连接到 Libby，从图书馆借阅受 DRM 保护的电子书。

There’s a lot to customise, if you so desire. I found the stock fonts to be a bit grainy, but I’ve been enjoying using Lexend Deca. 如果你愿意，有很多地方可以自定义。我觉得原厂字体有点颗粒感，但我现在很喜欢用 Lexend Deca 字体。

As the old adage goes, the best book you have is the one you’re carrying. If it broke today, I’d probably go out and buy another one. 俗话说得好，最好的书就是你随身携带的那本。如果它今天坏了，我大概会再去买一台。
